I attended Jackson Heights Elementary School in about 1958-1961. Viola Smith was one of my teachers as was Mrs. Ruffing. I don’t recall my one other teacher. But what I do remember was the fantastic education I received in all areas which has served me my entire life, particularly reading. I have lived a scholarly life that I attribute to my early learning days. When my family moved to Reno, Nevada in 1961, I was advanced. I continued to excel not so much on my own accord, but because of the enriching environment I enjoyed at Jackson Heights, even the lunchroom staff. I don’t recall exact words expressed, but I do remember how I felt and how I loved to go to school. I am certain many, if not most, are either retired or have passed away. If I may ask, if there are any remaining photos from that time, I would love to see them. I want to know as much about the school now as in the distant past as possible. Thanks so much!
