  1. Shanbally National is a massively overpopulated school trying to squeeze more and more pupils in with permanent Portacabins, as time has goes on. The grounds of the schools was never intended for its current use and represents a danger to pupils coming and going from it. It is adjacent to two of the most busy roads in the country the N28 to Ringaskiddy with all the big factories and a link road with Coolmore L2492, which is just as busy. Cars now have to be parked in the Shamrock GAA grounds things as so bad. And they just keep putting more and more Portacabins there, in what is now a sardine-can arrangement. When cars are parked outside the school adjacent to old school entrance, it becomes a dangerous bottleneck and you have to look out for students who might come out between the cars without warning. It will just be a matter of time before someone gets badly hurt or died as they try to squeeze more and more pupils in. These cars are also parked adjacent to a continuous white line and should not be there at all. A lot of chin-wagging between the parents goes on and traffic blockages can be a problem. The church car park is the main entrance to the school, but there is only room for a small limited number of cars, so most have to park in the GAA grounds.

Portacabins can be posted for planning at this school as “temporary structure or structures” — although many have been there for decades commented on to concrete blocks. A fine example of bad planning with Portacabins, which are known to be extremely hot in the summer time and freezing in winter time. There is a main building there, but Portacabins now take up most of the school’s square footage.  If you want your child to be educated in an over-populated Portacabin type school who will face dangers going to and from it, Shanbally N.S. is the place to enrol.
