Julie Golze
Hello,
My name is Julie Golze and I am the Safeguarding lead and non-mainstream school NCS coordinator for your area. It would be extremely helpful, if you could pass this email to either the head of year 11, Head Teacher, Deputy Head or relevant person.
NCS is a government packed 3 week project for Year 11 students this summer holiday.
The first stage is an adventure/action week with the students focussing on team building skills and confidence building all while zip-lining, rock climbing and other adrenaline-filled activities.
The next week is based at a University, giving the students an opportunity to be more independent. The also get workshops and talks from businesses and charities with a focus on budgeting, public speaking and other entrepreneurial skills.
The last week is all about giving back and making a positive impact on their local community. The students choose a cause or project they are passionate about and decide how they are best to help.
We finish the project with a celebration to thank the students for their hard-work as well as a certificate from the PM.
The government fund each child to complete the programme at eligible age (16-18), we do ask for £30 to secure their place, however this can be reduced for low-income families.
NCS really does help the students gain valuable skills and experiences that boost their CV’s and helped get previous graduate into university and jobs.
We’re hoping to come and talk to Year 11’s about this opportunity, but i am happy to come and give staff more information in the first instance – are there any dates that best suit?
I realise that your students may require additional support, and it may take a little more time to put things in place to enable some of your students to participate in the NCS opportunity, but we will always try and make the programme available to all as long as its safe to do so.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Many thanks,
